Founded in 2018, Century Dragon Boat Club brings together a dynamic group of both seasoned and new paddlers with a shared passion for racing competitively and building community. Based in Rhode Island, we proudly became members of the Eastern Regional Dragon Boat Association in 2022, and are dedicated to promoting the ancient and storied sport of dragon boat racing within our state.

 

At Century, we believe in the power of teamwork, physical fitness, and camaraderie. We practice on the Providence River, where the beautiful cityscape provides a stunning backdrop to our paddling sessions. Cheered on by passersby and occasionally serenaded by local musicians, we work hard together while enjoying the energy of the city. After practice, our team can often be found unwinding at local spots, supporting Rhode Island’s vibrant businesses.

 

As a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, we rely on member dues, fundraising, and private donations to maintain our operations. Funds support essential club needs, such as liability insurance, equipment (including dragon boats, PFDs, paddles, and jerseys), and ongoing club activities.

 

Our official racing season runs from May through October, where we practice regularly to sharpen our technique, endurance, and timing. We compete in events across the East Coast and beyond, proudly representing Rhode Island. In the off-season, we move our practice indoors to focus on technique and timing in a pool setting, making it an ideal time for newcomers to join and learn the sport.

 

Century Dragon Boat Club isn’t just about racing—it’s about creating lasting connections. We host team outings throughout the year to keep the spirit of community alive, even off the water. We welcome everyone to come paddle with us and become part of this incredible journey!
