KP Dragons is an Oakland, California-based dragon boat team, founded in 2001 by Christine Yee and fellow healthcare professionals from Kaiser Permanente. The team has competed across North America, racing in places like Treasure Island (San Francisco), Las Vegas, Portland, Tempe, Long Beach, San Diego, and Vancouver, British Columbia.

KP Dragons has evolved into an independent non-profit organization (no longer affiliated with Kaiser), drawing paddlers from across the San Francisco Bay Area. Today, our team is made up of diverse paddlers of all ages, professions, and backgrounds, united by a desire to have fun, lead a healthy lifestyle, and enjoy socializing while working out. The team is entirely run by a dedicated group of volunteer coaches, steerspersons, board members, and paddlers.

KP Dragons is committed to giving back to the community, participating in events like PickItUp Chinatown and the Oakland Alameda Estuary Cleanup. During the COVID-19 pandemic, the team raised significant funds to support Oakland-based non-profits, including Asian Health Services, the Alameda County Community Food Bank, and the Oakland Public Education Fund.

We are also proud to support youth paddlers, many from disadvantaged backgrounds, who have gone on to attend colleges and universities, build successful careers, and continue to share their passion for this incredible sport, inspired by their positive experiences with KP Dragons!
