South Cove Community Health Center (SCCHC) was founded in 1972, with a mission to improve the health and well-being of all medically underserved in Massachusetts, with a special focus on non-English speaking Asian-Americans. By providing high quality, community-based health care and health promotion programs that are accessible and linguistically and culturally-competent for these populations, South Cove has become the largest Asian primary care provider in Massachusetts with over  36,000 active patients.

The Inaugural Boston Dragon Boat Festival was held at the Hatch Shell in 1979. SCCHC was one of the six teams to participate in the races that first year.

SCCHC has continued to participate and support the Festival over the past 45 years. The team members have come from Adult Medicine, Behavioral Health, Dental Medicine, Nutrition, Pediatrics, OB/GYN, Administration and the Board of Directors. The spirit and enthusiasm each member brings from serving our patients and community at our Health Centers continues while working together as teammates on our “Stat Dragon” team.
