Living Root Dragon Boat will celebrate its 20th anniversary in 2025.  For the past two decades, the team has been fueled by the philosophy that everyone is welcome regardless of ability.  Coached by husband and wife team of Sandy and Dave Parker since 2007, and supported by numerous fantastic athletes, accountants, lawyers, artists, programmers and dog walkers, Living Root stands for the ideas that everyone has a part on the team, winning is fun, and no idea is too big.

 

Being one of the first East Coast teams to race in San Francisco, Florida, Puerto Rico and China, Root quickly developed a reputation as a fun and competitive team.  From the beginning, Living Root has worked hard to build relationships with other teams all over New England like Ocean State Dragon Boat, Century Dragon Boat, Hope in the Boat, Dragon Rays, and Paradise City Dragon Boat.  These relationships cemented Root’s reputation for being leaders in the community and allowed the team to expand its influence across the region.  Living Root is the first team to run an indoor erg race in Boston    The Boston Indoor Erg Race (BIER) exemplifies Root’s commitment to expanding dragon boat opportunities with irreverence and excellence.  Founded by Bob Lee and Scott Spurlock, Living Root was grounded in ambition and performance.  The team today continues to root itself in community, and growth of Dragon Boating in Boston.
